Nooo, not agaaaaaaain T.T

So, Gigeer made a good point in one of my Squeake posts (I know, long time since one of her posts XD) and I figured it was a good time to update on how she’s faired since dinging 70 a month ago.

She’s definitely looking cool!  Her first time in Kara, she got her Pocket Watch trinket, and that was it. (Oh and 20 badges, I switched to Cay for Nightbane ’cause they needed healz XD.)  Then, her second Kara visit coughed up the Eternium Greathelm and some Tier 4 lovin’ in her Warbringer Handguards (which I put 2% threat on.)

So, not bad for two weeks of Kara in which I was pretty much a waste of space T.T

Buuuuut this past Saturday’s Kara, I got both the coveted Nipple-thar Breasteses Plate (you CAN’T tell me that the Nipples are a HUGE distraction thar!) and the King’s Giant Popsicle Stick!  So now I look like a proper tank ^.^  Oh and she had enough badges to replace her blue Shadow Labs questy wrists with the Bracers of the Ancient Phallac… er, Phalanx.  Yea… that.

Only glaringly obvious upgrade I need?  If you said a tabard, you’d be wrong (niiiipplesssss).  It’s her shoulders.  Considering the abysmally crappy drop rate of the Mantle of Abrahmis, I’m gonna… gulp…. grindArathiBasinfor20marksbecauseIhavethehonoralready NOOOOOOOOOO I SAID IT!

I’m gonna get Squeaker some Season 2 shoulders… but I’m not going to enjoy slamming my face into the keyboard.  Admittedly, it’s gonna be very interesting PvPing Prot…. >.>  So… yea… back into the furnace I go.

PS: I like the look of tier 5 shoulders… so this is also slightly asthetic too XD  Cause you know, Squeaker isn’t EVER going to see Loot Reaver, Ever.

Decisions, Decisions

Posted by Silentstephi On June - 13 - 2008 8 COMMENTS

First things first: Thank you, you warrior tanks of awesome, who have given me little nuggets of pearly wisdom to go by.
Since Wednesday, Blizzard has been screwing with me, I think.  In a good way, maybe?  Let me ’splain.

Went ahead and ran Black Morass twice yesterday, to get our Kara attunement quests done.  Which they are.  It was a snooze fest.  Fio came on his huntard for the first one, then he switched to Gaia and we got the attunement for her.  Both times, I was easy to heal.  I did ok I think on holding aggro on the mini-bosses, and the big bosses, but I think that’s because the biggest aggro magnets were on add duty (BM hunter for first run and Furry warrior for second.)

Though in the second run, Celli did manage to pull Aenous off me T.T  So! Working on threat, indeedy.  Doom sent me this linky to the Tankspot forums about effective life per armor whatsit, and I had Fio translate, because… ok, look.  I am a very simple creatute.  Tell me Strength is good, Dodge Rating is Bad, etc, etc.  With the druid, it was: Look for Armor/Stam/Agility.  You had three or four things that you MUST HAVE, and you can do pretty darn well.  Warriors seem like a different universe.  I know warriors want similar things, but when I try to wrap my brain our the mathmatics, something just freezies up and I just… don’t get it.

So just tell me, is this good, is this bad, what do I need from here?  Ya know?  Trying to figure out for myself is probably going to land me in the crapper in the beginning.

So, right, the part about decisions!

Since Wednesday, I have gotten new stuff:

Gauntlets of the Bold
Legplates of the Bold
Myrmidon’s Headdress
Steam-Hinge Chain of Valor
Thatia’s Self-Correcting Gauntlets

So, now my question: ARG! I have the full Felsteel set Gemmed and Enchanted WHY DID YOU JUST GIVE MEH THINGS I ALREADY HAD UBER OTHER STUFF FOR!?!??! QQ

Ok, that wasn’t much of a question, more like a BBQ fest, but ANYWHO… is it worth it switching out the felsteel stuff for the Bold counterparts and the hat with a meta socket?   The Felsteel has awesome armor compared to the others, but the Bold stuff has more in stats.  I also got my Dabiri’s Enigma and my Adamantine Figurine (aka the PHALLIC) so my trinkets, they be awesome.  Enchanted my chest, so now Squeake’s looking like:

AC: 12440
Def: 517 (yea, I’m way over, need to regem, need something to put in yellow sockets T.T)
Dodge: 14.85%
Parry: 17.57%
Block: 16.68%
HP: 11614 unbuffed
So, do I keep the awesome that is the felsteel set or switch out?  And dear GAWD this sword is slow!  I didn’t realize it before but now that it’s been pointed out to me, ya, the Crystalline Kopesh is very slow.

I’m still having rage issues, even in Black Morass and Shadow Labs.  The SL run I did gave me more of a barometer of how I’d do in a group than the Morass I think, simply because the three DPS in the group didn’t like to watch aggro all that much T.T (”Oh, heehee, I SB crit, SORRY!” /rageoftehstephithatshecan’tgivesqueake)

I’ve also not been keeping Demo Shout or Shield Block up all that much, because they’re just a waste of rage at this point.  When I was in BM, the Shield blocking was ok, but it seemed an expensive way to get that guaranteed Revenge proc, in SL I totally forgot about it, even on bosses.

So yea, I know, I need to read some more on Tank spot, but if I have to keep reading math, I’m gonna go cry in the corner, K?

<3 teh Cay

Victory!

I know, where the H.E. double hockey sticks have I been, right?

See this? See it? That’s what I’ve been doing. Finally got the Squeaker to 70! /cheer

I immediately spec’d her prot to scope out the stats and what not.

The armory is down, but here’s what she’s got so far gear wise:

Head: Felsteel Helm
Neck: Natasha’s Battle Chain
Shoulders: Warchief’s Mantle
Back: Bogstrok’s Scale Cloak
Chest: Breastplate of the Warbringer
Wrist: Sha’tari Wrought Armguards

Gloves: Felsteel Gloves
Legs: Felsteel Leggings
Waist: Fearless Girdle
Boots: Flesh Beast’s Metal Greeves
Ring1: Delicate Eternium Ring
Ring2: Iron Band of the Unbreakable
Trinket1: Charm of Alacrity
Trinket2: Force of Will

Mainhand: Crystalline Kopesh
Shield: Platinum Shield of the Valorous
Gun: Gyro-Balanced Khorium Destroyer

All Blue sockets are Solid Star of Elune, all Reds are Regal Nightseye, and all Yellows are Enduring Talasite. The only thing enchanted right now is her shield with +18 Stam.

All in all, she’s got 11.4K HP unbuffed, 484 def (which is 6 from the cap of 490) and as soon as I get home and can look at her sheet I can post her Dodge/Parry/Block ratings. They range from like 12% to like 14% I think?

I’ve only glanced a bit at Tankspot but after yesterday, I now have a direction to go with some of the questions I have.

Yesterday I tanked Steamvaults and Arcatraz. In SV, we had a frost mage Cyfer, the prot warrior Lag in his DPS gear (our raiding MT), Sabbatine in her priestly holy freak suit, and Fio on his resto shammy Gaia. Yea, I know, two healers, but we three freshly minted 70s needed our frags and this was probably the best way to test everything out. Though we did start SV with Doom’s huntard but he had to split after the first boss.

Now, I’ve been tanking on Sasha, my ferlol druid since she hit 70… and holy mother of Gawd is warrior prot tanking SO DIFFERENT! I HAAAAAAAAATE multiple targets. I didn’t seem to get enough rage a lot of the times, I’m not sure what my cycle of attacks should be. I know that Shield Bash to the face = lots of aggro, and is dependent on your block rating. I know Devistate is like my LAcerate and can be spammed for threat, but how much? Lacerate functions like a DoT, but Devistate just seems to reapply the Sunder Armor effect, so when I’m maxed at 5, does it still generate enough threat? Also, trying to fit in a Demo Shout seems almost impossible, I didn’t have enough rage. I was pretty rage starved. I also noticed that I wasn’t taking huge amounts of damage. Gaia and Sabbatine complained of boredom : / Sooo, I’m going to guess that maybe I’m overmitigating somehow… but I need rage, and I need to figure out a rotation that produces a decent amount of threat.

Looking at Omen, I was around 400 TPS… I don’t know if that is good enough. WHen we did Arcatraz, Cyfer switched out for Ferlol Arys, and I switched some of my abilities around on my bars to make them more like what Sasha’s bar looks like. Not exactly the same, because warrior’s have many more buttons it seems. Revenge is a pretty awesome attack, and the fact that I’ve spec’d it to cost 2 rage makes me happy, but even in Arc, I was having rage problems again.

My usual rotation on the bear:

Faerie Fire to pull
Mangle
Laceratex2
Demo Roar
Mangle when the CD is up
Spam Lacerate and Maul if I have excess rage

For Squeake, I had enough rage to start off with a Devastate or two, but trying to build up enough rage for that Shield Slam was tough, though Revenging was easy. I think I just need more practice, and some gear advice.

Things I know I need to get before I try out for Kara:

BETTER TANKING TRINKETS ZOMG XD

The Charm is awesome, and so is that Force of Will, but the Charm is kinda like a baby Pocketwatch, and has no equip ability, while the Force of Will is a lvl 55 blue from BRD. There’s a quest line in Netherstorm, the Dimensius the All-Devouring that has the Dabiri’s Enigma which looks like an attainable trinket. Probably replace the Charm. After that, it’s Shadow Labs for my phallic symbol (or you might call it the Adamantine Figurine.)  Then there’s the Cipher of Damnation quest that Sab and I have already started, we’re on the Tuber’s part (kill me now plzkthx) which will net Sab that awesome Staff of the Redeemer and my new tanking weapon, Grom’tor’s Charge.  Though I think I see axe skill leveling in my future T.T

So, other than some upgrades and a firm and complete spanking in a heroic ( I need one, srsly) I think so far so good.  Now it’s time to go trolling the Tankspot forums… though I must admit, I’m horrible at searching for stuffs…

Who’s Got a Kitty?

I does! Sab’s sitting next to me on her spiftastic Black Battlestrider, which is only appropriate for the Goblin Rocket Launcher wielding dwarf priesty.

^.^

Remind me again to NEVER EVER do that grind again. K? If I look as if I have visions of black mounts in the future, STEER ME CLEAR!

Please? I like my sanity.

Oh and yea, btw, I won’t be posting during raid again in the foreseeable future.

It’s a bad night when the MT is really tired and just gave up smoking the day before O.O

List of Projects

Posted by Silentstephi On May - 19 - 2008 5 COMMENTS

Firstly, I must woot.

That is a very dead fishy matron! /cheer

And now back to our regularly scheduled posting…

___

At this point, this is a very necessary list of stuff I need to do. I’ll forget otherwise. I have many projects.

1 - Level Squeake to 70, learn how to tank on a warrior.

This project is well under way, and has a bit of a side project to it in that she needs to level BSing to full, drop mining and add alchemy, level that to full, get her 30 tokens each to get her Reins of the Black War Tigger (only black mounts will grace her WAHREEOUR bottom), and toy with the possibilities of xfering her to an RP server. Hehe. I dunno. She just seems so RPable. ^.^
Edit: Ok, maybe not Alchemy… the thought has crossed my mind to try and get Phelyx rez’d. It’s gaining popularity in the chaos that is my brain. See point #7 for details.

2 - Level Rakzha’s skinning, then level Leilu’s Leatherworking.

My poor Shammy, Leilu, has seen three toons pass her since her creation. Rakzha, Moon and now Squeake. I created my Leilu when BC came out. She’s stuck at 43. I will level her… eventually. Her JCing is maxed for now, at 305, and I’ll start funneling her the necessary ores for max JCing after that once she hits 50.

3 - Get Rakzha some PvP gear.

She has some, the Unyeilding Girdle and Bracers, her trinket (5 min), the ghetto blue hat and chest, and her Battlecast set (I know, not really PvP, but it’s still pretty awesome) and her S1 gloves, but she needs more if she’s going to survive Arena. I don’t Arena much though, too busy leveling another alt. ;P It WILL GET DONE! But now I know what needs doing ^.^

4 - Find out why Sasha’s HP is still crappily low and fix it.

Sasha has 4 pieces of T4 now (All but chest) and is in dire need of heroic badges to get some DPS gear that isn’t laughable. I’ve been so caught up with making her a tank, I’ve pretty much ignored her DPS capabilities, which is bad, because what good is a feral druid if they don’t have DPS gear when they’re not tanking? What does this mean? Well, badge farming and primal farming for starts.
FYI, I HATE FARMING. I hate dailies, I hate farming, I really hate repetitive tasks. Leveling alts to 70 may seem like the epic of repetition, but when you’re doing it with a different class each time (Rakzha doesn’t count, I love priests!) then things are still different, because there’s new ways to tackle old problems, ya know?
As it stands, Rakzha is my skinner, Sasha is my uber farmer (herbalism and druids is just so OP! ^.^)

5 - Moon, Stephi, levels, money, ARG FARMING!

Poor Moon. She’s in the ghetto PvP blue gear because try as I might, I cannot get a regular group for anything on Drenden Horde side. I’ve really wanted to just say screw healing and go prot and try getting groups that way, but honestly, unless you’re guilded with the big boys, no one wants you. So I’m stuck for now it seems. Ah well.
Stephi on the other hand, needs some leveling love soon. He’s Moon’s money maker, and at level 24, he’s not making a whole ton of money. I plan on making him an herbalist/skinner or herbalist/miner, not sure which yet. (Probably skinning, it’s easier to level.) Then I’ll drop mining on Moon, pick up Alchemy (which I’ve been missing my potion whore dearly on horde side XD) and start with the potion making. Until Squeake is that magic number though, can’t level Stephi.

6 - Cay owes Fio 1500 gold still.

Did I mention how much I hate dailies?

7 - Demona, wtf?

I have pretty much let my little Lock stay at 29. She’s not a twink, she’s just… not being leveled. I wonder sometimes if I should just reroll her. Every time I try to get into the lock mood, I fizzle out. So for now, she’s an unknown. I may keep her, I may not. At this point, I don’t need to level her alchemy because I’m gonna make Squeake my Potion Bitch. I deleted Lekklana, my NE huntard, because of the feelings of apathy I had about leveling her. Demona’s getting there. Maybe I should just delete her and ask to restore my mage Phelyx?

8 - DO NOT LEVEL LUNARI

I spent good hard gold to make her my lvl 19 mage twink, DO NOT SCRATCH THAT LEVELING ITCH.
Though it’s really hard. She’s just ooooooooone level away from BLINK! T.T In fact…

9 - Delete Demona, try and get Phelyx restored.

Since Celli and I started leveling a pally/mage on an RP server, playing the mage has made me nostalgic. I leveled Phelyx to 42 (or 43?), got her tailoring up to 300, her alchemy to like 285 or 300 (I forget) and then deleted her to make room for Rakzha cause I’m a noob. I want my mage back. (Commence the end of the world, because I NEVER thought I’d say that. XD) Question: on a character that’s been restored, do they come back with their professions intact? If not, no biggie, I can commence with the Squeake Pot Bitch-if-cation and get Phelyx her tailoring and maybe something else (who knows). If so, then Squeake is free to try a different profession. We shall see.

EDIT: So I got Phelyx restored, Demona is gone, and I’m learning the ways of a squishy fire mage.
Stay tuned! XD

PS: Farming BG tokens SUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUUCKS. T.T

Challenge Complete!

Posted by Silentstephi On April - 14 - 2008 4 COMMENTS

So yea, remember Friday I talked about a certain challenge with a certain priest who was 30 and I was 25 and I had 24 hours?

I did it! With a little (ok, a metric butt ton of) help from Fio. We did 5 levels in 8 hours. It was nuts! He basically killed stuff, I turned in the quests for XP, and viola levels!

We started the whole thing over at VC, aka the Deadmines, cause I was silly and had never finished my VC questie there. I needed to so I could get the Stockades questie, and then from VC we’d head over to Stocks and pwn some silly rebellious prisoners.

See? Silly prisoners…

So, after pwning those newbs, came out side and talked to this guy, who then said, “Hey you’re level 26 now! Get out of here!”

Dude I leveled! You’d think the Capitan would he happy

Anywho, we left the whiner and headed over to Redridge, which while I was swimming to drop of that Curse of Stalvan thingie… I had to giggle.

Jaw’s ain’t got nuffin’ on mah Blade!

I was getting so much XP from these quests though that during our purging of the stupid (and smelly) Blackrock orcs, I dinged 27.

Nothing to see here guys… ignore the big glowy aura I had two seconds ago, K?

Once the orcs in the keep were sufficiently humbled by my (read: Fio’s) awesomeness, we went to kick some Orcish Champion tail and met this pally a long the way. She needed Champions too, and while inside we both wanted to let out the very hurt and therefor walking at a slow pace Corporal Keeshan.

She was thankful and then went on her merry way once the Corp was in the clear.

Once that was done, time to head back to the inn, get smashed, finish a quest or three and then head on over to Duskwood while I’m still buzzed. It was time to start killing Worgens ^.^

They make purdy art.

Lots of dead worgen, tons of re-dead skeletons, liquefied ghouls and a Mor’Ladim later, and I dinged 28 in time to give Mor’s daughter’s ring back to him. Huzzah!

Ok, now that you got that ring, and I have your sword, can ya stop killing the newbs in the grave yard? Please?

So, more killings, more quests turned in, and then the huge long ass running around in SW so everyone and their mother knows exactly what you did when, where and why, and I dinged 29! Which was apparently too much for Stormwind, cause the waterways parted…

Sea isn’t red, but that’s ok wif me!

Around this time, Fio was getting tired, and I did promise to run the Cow through some stuff, so we took a break. But it was still pretty awesome that by just finishing the quests as fast as possible, I got 4 levels on like almost 0 rested XP (I think I started with like 20% rested.)

Few hours later though and Sabby’s all like, well well well, 29 eh? Let’s go do GNOMER!

So we did. And I dragged the Fluffy Teady-Bear of BOOM with us.

Note to self: Do not stand under the rocks when the gnome blows them up.

Once I learned my lesson the hard way (isn’t that how warriors like it?) we proceeded to run rampant through the gnome city, oh and every possible weapon that could drop in that place, did. So I now have a FREAKIN’ ARSENOL of toys! ^.^

Turning in all the questies to all those gnomes in Iron Forge is what dinged me, just in time for Sabby to see.

So yea, that was an awesomely fun time. Oh and to celebrate, Fio (he’s such a doll) got me my very own Azure whelpling! Now I know Squeake’s not going anywhere. This guy’s too cute!

Challenge

So, the gauntlet has been thrown down. I have 24 hours to catch up to Sabbatine.

Oh and Sab? She’s level 30.
Think I can do it?

EDIT: ZOMG, I think I was still tired, leveling?  Big picture?  So many bad thingies! But!  I will have a picture by picture update coming… soon… ish.

^.^
