Where Did They Go?

So, I mentioned that I have a lot of alts, right?
Well, I have this bad tendency to run out of space for said alts. Ten is the character limit per realm, unfortunately, so there’s been a few times where I’ve had to delete toons to make room for more.
The first time you do it, make sure it’s a doozy. Or else you’ll never be able to do it again.

This was my first character deletion. Phelyx, my arcane mage made way for Rakzha, my shadow priest of draenei shmexyness. Phel was level 42, had 300 Alchemy and 300 Tailoring… but I was bored out of my skull with her. I didn’t like being a glass cannon… and frankly, I enjoyed priesting more. Out of all of the alts I had at the time, she was probably the easiest to delete.
There are some times where I want to see if I could possibly get a character restore on her… but if I’m gonna go back to magery, I’ll just leave that to Lunari… she’s a twink… she’s not leveling for a while. XD
However, Phelyx isn’t totally gone. There’s this awesome Orc I know who hangs around with Cay and the gang (when he’s not getting his phreak on with a certain mage) and it was nice to see that Phelyx is now one of Sylvanis’ many minions. Though it seems she said screw Arcane and Elemental powers and got herself a mouthy imp and emo blueberry in the process.
After Phelyx, it was all down hill. I had tried warrioring with little success. Moon objected to this deletion, but I was anxious to try the dark side for a bit (something about cookies?), and I had never played a Pally before.
So, Moon the BE pally was born. I’ve said it before, I’ll say it again… I will NEVER, EVER, EVER level another pally, ever again. When Moon has to make her way to 80, she’s either gonna be stuck there for EVER or she’s just going to healbot her way to 80. Two handed weapons is just not for me. I was sorely tempted, many times to redelete Moon and just start over with something else that wouldn’t make my brain scream at me for not stabbing it repeatedly… but I stuck it out. I think the worst of it was when she hit 60. Outland leveling was agony.
Now she’s a healbot for Battleground, but it seems I have awful luck in any BG I participate in. If I’m there, we’re probably gonna lose. Never mind that Horde in Emberstorm wins BG’s 75% of the time if it’s their PuG vs ours. If I’m there, Horde’s got a 50/50 chance to lose. /shame
But I couldn’t get away from the warrior it seems. Lekklana, my 30 something hunter. Yes, yet another NE hunter. I had been playing her off and on it seems like forever. Hell, I had brought her over from Lothar! She was my token leatherworker. But for the life of me… I couldn’t get excited playing her. I would log on her… check out her bank, look at my cute Ralphie (who i eventually got rid of anyway…) and then find something else to be shiney.
So Celli says to me, “Re-roll that warrior dang it! You’ll like it, I promise!” Considering he was trying out a squishy priest at the time, I couldn’t say no. So I said, screw it, why not? Moon the warrior made it to 17, but Squeake’s 21 so far and I’m loving Furry. It reminds me of my Giddg days, when my tiny package of ankle biting whoop ass would stab in rapid succession ^.^ Except Squeake beans you with a rolling pin, followed by the stabbity stab.
I couldn’t leave it alone though. Remember when I said I’ll never, ever, EVER level another Pally? Well, silly me, I had a pally named Stephi on Ally side.
Yup. Deleted her.
I needed something else on Horde side to send stuff to though, that and I came to the annoying realization that if I was ever gonna seriously do anything over there… farming on Moon was out of the question. It was too painful.
So, what’s the best kinda toon for farming? Yea, in comes Stephi the He Pretty Hunter! BE dudes are so he pretty, it’s ridiculous. I wanted one. Flaming red hair definitely matches the flaming red of the lynxs over in Silvermoon. So far, he’s 22, and herbing the country side. I missed having an alchemist on horde for all those yummy potions. He’s really easy to level though… oh and when he dies, it’s pretty funny to watch.
So, where does this leave me? I’m 10/10 on Drenden, no room in site. Unless Blizz ups the limit to 15 er something, there is no Death Knight in my future. But that’s fine. It’s not something I thought looked all that interesting. There are times though where I wish I could experiment more with other classes. But Demona is just too cool a name for a warlock, and I don’t feel like yet another BE… so she stays. Lunari, I spent way to much money on her not to keep her a twink… and the rest are my 70s. They stay by default ^.^

Wow thats a lot of alts. I barely feel I have enough time to devout to three characters let alone what you have. Though you do make a point that I’m sure most of us have run into which is that some classes just seem impossible to level. I know a person who is close to having his second lvl 70 warrior but I barely can stand getting a warrior to lvl 10. I don’t like rogues but I like playing feral druids because I like being able to heal myself. I haven’t tried a pally yet. I like shamans but I wish my mana didn’t seem to drain so quickly soloing.
You are an altoholic and I think you need help lol.

I only have 2 serious alts right now (both 70s), and I really can’t imagine devoting time to more than 2 alts. It’s tough to stay as skilled as I want to be on 2 toons, let alone 5.
In response to sonvar, if you go enhancement, at 70 your mana woes will go away completely. My main is a mage and my alt is an enhancement shaman, and the relative mana-independence of my shaman is always a wonderful break from the mana-sucking whore that is my mage, and I love it to death.
Anyways…do you get to raid on all of your toons? I imagine being GM helps a bit in that respect, but for me, even as a high-ish ranking member of my guild, mains always come before alts, unless absolutely necessary, and alts can’t roll on gear that mains want, etc. How do you treat alts (especially your own)?

As a heads up, from what I understand the Death Knights won’t require one of the regular character slots on each server. In fact, they go under a special hero class slot that’s seperate of the regular ten slots you’d normally get. Now, I haven’t been following the whole Death Knight craze thing since I know that as a marginally competent priest I’ll have little competition for raids if I stick with my class (which, coincidentally, is also my favorite class!), but that’s what I remember reading months ago.
This was the only thing that I could quickly find on the matter, though I’m certain that I saw a Blue post somewhere that explained the same idea.
I also suffer from altitis, but I blame it on my roleplaying obsession; each new character is another opportunity to flesh out another individual’s story, her personality, her traits, and her background. To be honest, I’m loathe to delete any characters now because doing so would mean losing all of that work I put into creating a person (as opposed to the whole leveling bit). In fact, my boyfriend wanted to roll Horde recently and I rerolled my 40-something sin’dorei warlock as a level 1 sin’dorei warlock because I was so loathe to lose a character that I loved!

I’m at the 10 limit on Malygos. My main is a belf hunter, and I “was” leveling up a rogue and a prot pally (both belfs) also. But these new dailies have pretty much ended that. So many to do, and so much fun.

Alts are addictive. There’s that class I wanna try, and hey I could try this class on another race, and hey what about that other realm I’m hearing about, and hey my character on that new realm is all alone and needs some backup…XD
If you get tired of all that ‘flagging’ nonsense, you could try Dethecus. I don’t have any ally toons, but the PvP Hordeside is…exciting.
